MeshCore Companion App version 1.49.0 adds a direct way to trace the current route to and from a repeater, giving users a clearer view of how their traffic is crossing an off-grid LoRa mesh. Although the underlying app release arrived August 22, Mesh America published a detailed account of the changes today, September 2.
The new path-tracing button should help operators check connectivity and understand which repeaters are forwarding their traffic. Repeater Remote Management also gains a network-settings screen for configuring path-hash size and default region scope. Those two controls have moved out of the experimental section and into the main settings area, while radio presets can now supply a default path-hash size when selected.
Version 1.49.0 also adds optional region names to received channel messages, providing useful geographic context on larger meshes. Notification handling is clearer: muted channels receive a dedicated icon and grey badge, and the contacts and channels tabs now show the number of unread conversations instead of a simple dot. Advanced onboarding can set path-hash size, and autocorrect has been disabled for manually entered region names.
The update fixes an unread-message indicator that could disappear when a contact was off-screen and a map-view freeze triggered by rapid zooming. Taken together, the release is more than a cosmetic refresh: it improves route visibility, remote repeater configuration, regional organization, and day-to-day message handling for MeshCore users and network administrators.
