Repeater Site Migration

On Sunday, December 22nd, a few club members successfully relocated equipment from the old telephone pole antenna tower to a newer tower at the same site. This effort marks a key step in preparing for the installation of an even newer tower as part of the planned site upgrade.

Here’s what Toby, K9TOB, had to say about the day’s efforts:

“Sunday, December 22nd, was a productive day. Kelly, Tony, Toby, and Gino successfully moved the club repeaters to the improved adjacent site. Tony, assisted by a team member, climbed the tower to install two new antennas for the UHF and VHF repeaters and ran LMR 600 coaxial cable to the adjacent building. Meanwhile, Kelly, Gino, and I relocated the repeater equipment into the new building. After thorough testing, everything is confirmed to be in working order.

The old antennas were in poor condition, so this upgrade is a significant improvement. We also gained about 20 feet in height for the HAM repeaters and a few feet for the GMRS antenna. The makeshift repairs using bubble gum, duct tape, and hose clamps were replaced with proper mounting brackets, ensuring a more reliable setup.”
